A Christmas tale
The greyhounds of the Magi

Long, long ago, in the days when Jesus – the only Son of God – was born, the greatest of the Magi were educated in the port of Alexandria in mysterious Egypt. All knowledge was gathered there, from its great library which was famous all over the known world, to the Magi themselves.

The World German Shepherd Conference at the Federación Canófila Mexicana, AC (FCM) was held on 16^th and 17^th November and was attended by many figures from the dog-loving world, among them Mr Rafael de Santiago, President of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) who gave the opening address at this major event, during which he highlighted his total satisfaction...

On November 12^th and 13^th 2016, no less than 2,541 dogs met in Riga to try and win the Baltic Winner title. As much as 265 different breeds were shown and judged by an international panel of 17 judges.

As was to be expected, Sunday morning dawned in the same way as Saturday had done and it was another rainy day. The venue opened on time and with a larger number of dogs entered on this occasion, the draw of the SCCS (the Sociedad Canina de la Costa del Sol meant that we had the very impressive figure of 952 entries in the Lanca catalogue.

On November 28^th and 29^th, 2016, Blingel, in the French region of Pas de Calais, was the stage for the ninth FCI European Cup for Spaniels. France, who was in charge of organising an event that rallied five nations around those hunting breeds, more than lived up to the expectations.

36^th Alicante International Dog Show

It has been four years since the last time I went to the national and international dog shows in Alicante. After such a long gap you really notice the changes – for better and worse - that have taken place over this time.

On December 12^th, over thirty people met and spent a very pleasant time at the global headquarters of our federation. The season is ideally suited for stocktaking and warm meetings with those who have meant so much throughout the year.

The Icelandic Kennel Club held an international dog show in Reykjavik, Iceland, on November 12-13th 2016. The theme of the show was Winter-Wonderland. The judges were Mr George Schogol from Georgia, Ms Irina V. Poletaeva from Finland, Mr Rafael Malo Alcrudo from Spain, Mr Svante Frisk from Sweden and Mr Svend Løvenkjær from Denmark.

An extraordinary Assembly takes place in Zurich in 1992 due to irregularities occurred at the Dortmund meeting the previous year. Argentina and the city of Buenos Aires welcome the FCI members in 1993. Mr Defraiteur has unfortunately died in the meantime and is replaced by Mr E. Vanherle.
